Section II Problem Solving (30 points)

DIRECTIONS: In this section, there are 5 situations in classroom teaching. In each situation there are some problems. Firstly identify the problems. Secondly, provide your own solutions according to the communicative language principles.

1. Mr. Wang asks each of his students to write a letter of about 200 words to his pen

friend about “A University”. The style of the letter is informal and friendly.

2. Ms Chen always teaches her students a new structure by presenting the rule first, then gives some examples to confirm the rule.

3. Mrs. Zhang is going to teach a reading text “Noises in the Night”. She has prepared the following new words to pre-teach: silence, suppose, upstairs, metallic.

4. Mr. Liu checks the students' answer to a specific question by saying: Zhang Yan, what's your attitude towards the disabled?

Section III   Mini-Lesson Plan (40%)

DIRECTIONS: In this section, you will be asked to design two teaching plans.

Task 1. Here is a summary of a text. Design a While-writing plan for it.  

        Summary: There are three theories about why people are shy. One theory says that a person inherits shyness from the parents. Another theory is that shy people never learned how to act with other people because no one ever thought them social skills. The third theory says that shy people learned to be shy when they were children because their parents didn't encourage them to be more confident. Now researchers say that apparently all three theories are true.

Task 2.   Design a production stage plan for teaching “Future Perfect Tense”.
